Meet Our Team
Monica
Monica is the president and CEO of LittleStar, Inc. With her natural design sense and fine art talents, she developed the first LittleStar product - a baby sling.
Impressed by such a strong positive response to her first product, she came to a well-researched conclusion: products that paired useful function with contemporary design were lacking in the baby gear market. With an entrepreneurial spirit, an appreciation for style and a strong interest in marketing and company branding, she took the plunge and introduced LittleStar products to stores across North America. During this same period, Monica developed the impressive cut and sew manufacturing facility that has become the heart of LittleStar.
Today, Monica focuses on new product innovation, textile sourcing and brand development; all the while keeping a strong hand in the factory operations. She guides marketing direction from concept to execution and works to ensure that LittleStar's ever growing product categories become an internationally recognized and desired brand.
Monica is the single parent of two rambunctious children. In her spare time, she enjoys a long-time passion of running and weight training at the gym. She was educated in the arts at the University of Toronto in Ontario, Canada.
Erin
Erin is the designer here at LittleStar and she has an eclectic portfolio.
After graduating from Ryerson University's acclaimed School of Fashion she worked on such diverse product lines as; ladies boutique fashion, value priced family fashion, exotic lingerie and eco-friendly baby products. Erin's skill set is equally wide ranging, from innovative design, pattern drafting, construction, production and textile design, she turns ideas into finished products.
Interestingly, Erin first learned of LittleStar as a customer and a mother. Being a firm believer in babywearing, she 'wore' both her children in LittleStar slings.
As priorities often change with parenthood, Erin left big city Ontario for the quiet life in the country. She now lives on 20 acres in rural New Brunswick with her husband and two children. There they are striving towards a self-sufficient and environmentally responsible lifestyle producing much of their own food through gardening and raising dairy goats, heritage chickens and honeybees.
Sarah
Sarah is the operations manager at LittleStar, where she uses her varied skillset to handle everything from packing daily orders to brainstorming long-term business plans.
She completed her education in the state of Massachusetts, studying computer science at Wellesley College and robotics at Olin College of Engineering. After completing the first year of a PhD program at MIT, she made the life-changing decision to leave graduate school and search for a different line of work. She connected with LittleStar just a few weeks later, and hasn't looked back since.
Thanks to her training in engineering, Sarah has developed a great eye for detail and a knack for understanding complicated systems at many levels. This comes in very handy here at LittleStar, where every step of the product design, manufacturing, and sales process takes place under one roof!
Sarah's other interests include conflict mediation, non-violent communication, and a dance-like form of yoga called Shiva Nata. She has been playing the violin since the age of four and dreams of learning lampworking, the art of making glass beads and figurines at a welding torch. She lives in Fredericton, New Brunswick with her younger brother Hugh.
Lisa
Lisa is LittleStar's talented business and computing intern. A hard worker and great multitasker, she helps keep LittleStar's online presence running smoothly, and does a little bit of everything else on the side.
Lisa completed two years of an arts degree at the University of New Brunswick – St. John before deciding on a change of course. She recently received her diploma in Business and Computer Application from Eastern College in Fredericton, New Brunswick. While working full-time at LittleStar, she goes the extra mile by working as a restaurant server on the weekends.
Her education in computers comes in handy with managing LittleStar's online store, and taking care of other computing tasks around the office. Her business background included courses in marketing, so she provides plenty of input in LittleStar's branding strategy as well.
Outside of work, Lisa is an avid reader and hopes to open her own business someday using the experience she gained in school and here at LittleStar. We're proud to have her on the team and can't wait to see where her admirable work ethic and solid business sense take her next!
Lindsay
Lindsay is the packing specialist here at LittleStar.
She is the one who will put your order together and get it ready to ship in a timely and accurate manner. With an eye for detail, she is able to fill a large volume of orders in a short amount of time to ensure that you are not waiting a moment longer than you should. Lindsay also she updates the LittleStar website and helps out in almost any other way needed.
Lindsay has spent the last three years at Saint Thomas University as a Native studies major. She also speaks conversational Irish Gaelic and next year she begins training in Spanish and Maliseet (a Native American language). Upon completing her Bachelor of Arts degree, she plans to pursue graduate studies at the University of New Brunswick.
In her spare time, Lindsay promotes and produces concerts. A few of her more memorable contributions were organizing a concert for Skate 4 Cancer and a benefit concert for Falls Brook Center (a sustainable-living community in Northern New Brunswick). Apart from this, she enjoys running, writing, reading and problem solving.
